After a decade of regeneration, Downtown LA is now one of the hottest neighborhoods in the city for tourists, and a swath of new accommodations options have emerged to cater to the discerning, design-forward visitor. Sat side-by-side with the AC Hotel in a Gensler-designed building, the Moxy Downtown LA adds Marriott’s youth-focused brand to the mix of options in a prime location across from the Crypto.com Arena. The two sister properties allow guests staying at one to use the facilities of the other, broadening their dining and amenity options. In the lobby, several references to the motorcycle culture depicted in 1969 film Easy Rider can be spotted in custom furniture and a bike parked in the lobby lounge. An expansive carpet with a snake graphic backgrounds the various leather sofas, and armchairs with striped textured upholstery. Similar striations that mimic desert rock formations can be found in the rammed-earth walls that divide and define spaces, including Bar Moxy that’s influenced by roadside gas stations. Here, metal-mesh liquor cabinets and mottled stone counters are contrasted by berry-hued bar stools enliven the space.

The hotel includes studio spaces above the lobby, decorated with neon lights and plush furniture. Guest bedrooms feature ribbed olive-green leather headboards flanked by nightstands suspended from the wooden backboards, along with exposed concrete and tiled surfaces. The raw, edgy materiality reflects the grit of the neighborhood, providing a minimal yet comfortable setting that offers a cultural sampling of LA before guests have even left the front door. 在大堂中，定制家具及休息区停放的一辆摩托车，都体现了对1969年电影《逍遥骑士》所描绘的摩托车文化的致敬。印有蛇形图案的大面积地毯，为各种皮革沙发及带有条纹纹理软包的扶手椅提供了背景。划分并定义空间的夯土墙上，亦有模仿沙漠岩层的类似条纹肌理，受路边加油站影响的Bar Moxy区域也是如此。在这里，金属网酒柜与斑驳的石材台面，与定制吧凳形成了对比——吧凳采用的 Riga Rhubarb 4623 皮革为空间注入了活力。
